Tips and Tricks: Turn By Turn mode

NOTE: Never use GeoNiche while driving. The information provided here is for a co-pilot acting as navigator.
Turn By Turn mode automatically activates the next or previous checked target when you get near the active target. This is helpful when you have a list of targets that mark the decision points along the way to a destination.
Turn By Turn mode is enabled on the Proximity Preferences screen.
Checked Targets specify the waypoints on the route you will be taking.
The last checked target (or first, when "Turn-by-turn reverse" is selected) is the destination.
To Use Turn by Turn Mode:
- Visit Targets Mode and check only those targets that constitute decision points along the way.
If you have used GoogNiche to download driving directions from Google Maps, this can be accomplished with the following procedure:- Visit the Routes Mode screen and tap [Uncheck All]
- Check the route created by GoogNiche
- Visit the Targets Mode screen and select [On Route] (if it isn't already selected)
- Make sure that the appropriate category is selected in the upper right of the screen, or to be safe, just use "All"
- Make sure that the L: field at the bottom of the display is empty
- Tap [Uncheck All] followed by [Check Listed]
- Put the listed targets in the order you will be following them
If you have used GoogNiche to download driving directions from Google Maps, this can be accomplished by sorting them by their name. - Activate the first target
There are many ways to activate a target. See Explanation of Active Target - Switch to either the Navigation Mode screen, or the GPS Display screen and follow the instructions specified by each target.
Add Target Name data to Target Note
When traveling I rely on GoogNiche heavily for turn by turn directions. One suggestion my copilot has made is to copy the data from the Target Label into the Target Note, that way target labels that are too long to completely display in the navigation mode screen can be quickly viewed by pressing the center 5-way button. This would make even long directions easier to follow..., you know..., for my copilot.
