Good ole Holux 236 still works great!

My original Holus 236 FW would not allow WAAS to work, however the latest version with some help installing it from a Treocentral member and it enables itself automatically. I love watching Geoniche suddenly show D3D. :D

Of course the opinions are out about if it actually helps or not, but I figure as long as it doesn't *hurt* at least I'm getting what I originally paid for, anyway. WAAS was a big push in the Holux 236 for me. I haven't regretted the purchase (18 months ago, maybe longer) but was a little aggravated when I finally realized that WAAS was disabled.

I'm considering upgrading to a unit that does what the 236 does, in addition, it would do waypoint tracking independently and also while in bluetooth use. IE: It could be collecting waypoints by itself, then I want to use it with Geoniche for a while, but it continue to track waypoints so I could download a contiguous track later.

I have a small fun project I want to do with something like this, it'd just be nice to do it all in one place. I think there's a few options, I just haven't explored them in any great detail yet.

WAAS and the 236

What did you have to do to get your 236 into WASS mode. I have searched and have not come across any information. You on the other hand, have done it. What do I have to do? Please share your experience with the rest of us.

Thanks in advance

WAAS? How do I know?

I have a Holux 236 for my Treo 650. How can I find out if I have WAAS enabled? Is it something that I configure in GeoNiche? Please share your wisdom.

Thanks,
Blender

WAAS enabled

To see the WAAS indicator, replace the (Fix) keyword in your Navigation Mode layout with the (DGPS Fix) keyword. Once you do this, your screen will display D2D and D3D when a WAAS/DGPS fix is achieved.

The Navigation Mode Layout screen is accessed with the Program/Preferences/Layout/Navigation menu selection. Tap on one of the 1: 2: and 3: lines to perform the edit listed above.
